Thomas John Mooney

Thomas J. Mooney, age 69, of Maple Lake, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022 at his home in Maple Lake.

Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2022 at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Maple Lake with a Remembrance Service at 5 p.m. Burial will take place at St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery.

Thomas John Mooney was born May 25, 1953 in St. Cloud to James and Luverne (Mayer) Mooney. He was baptized at St. Timothy Catholic Church and graduated from Maple Lake High School with the class of 1971. Tom owned and operated Mooney Painting for over 40 years. He married Julie Peterson on December 24, 1981 in Yuma, AZ. They lived for a short time in Mesa, AZ before moving to Hanover, MN. In 1982, they moved back to the Mooney Homestead in Maple Lake where Tom grew up. Tom enjoyed music, trivia, fishing, forecasting the weather, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Brendan (Ashley) Mooney of Maple Lake, Marie Peterson of Los Angeles, CA; former wife, Julie Peterson; grandchildren, Tobie Reid, Jack Mooney, and Ellery Mooney; step granddaughter, Kailey Teicher; cousins, Elaine Paumen, Gene Miller, Kathy Rennie, Chris Mayer, Craig Mayer, Jeff Mayer, Maureen Fobbe, and Mary Fobbe. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, James and Luverne Mooney; and cousin, Gary Miller.
