Robert Dean Mozena, age 83, of Kimball, died Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Lakeside Healthcare Center in Dassel.
Public Walk-Through Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Kimball United Methodist Church. Public Visitation will continue at the church without family present on Friday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Private Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 29, 2021 with Pastor Lori Artner officiating. A public committal service will take place at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Maine Prairie Cemetery, Kimball. Services will be livestreamed on the funeral home's website.
Robert Dean Mozena was born May 10, 1937 in Carroll County, Iowa to Robert and Ethel (Horning) Mozena. Dean grew up in Kimball where he graduated from high school with the Class of 1955. On June 24, 1961, Dean was united in marriage to Karen J. Newman at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kimball. They made their home on the family farm where Dean farmed and raised livestock. In addition to farming, Dean also drove school bus for Hendricks Bus Company for 62 years, worked as an auctioneer, co-owned H&M Furniture in Kimball, and owned and operated Dean's Farm Seeds. Dean was a member of the Kimball United Methodist Church, where he served many years as a board member and was part of the men's club. He was also a charter member of the Kimball Lions Club and served many years as the chair of the Maine Prairie Cemetery Association. Over the years Dean enjoyed collecting Allis Chalmers tractors, toys, and carnival glass. He could also be found spending time at his favorite fishing spots.
Dean is survived by his wife of 59 years, Karen of Kimball; children, Pamela Mozena of Foreston, Penny (Jim) Strodtman of Kimball, Dale (Candie Fennema) of Kimball, and Kari (Douglas) Schaefer of Avon; grandchildren, Robert, Amanda, Ryan, Elizabeth, and Tom Sendy, Nickolas, Luke, and Abigail Strodtman, Kayla Mozena, and Benjamin and Jacob Schaefer; great-grandchildren, Sadie, Mason, Kaydee, Braydon, Haylee, Trinity, Liam, Hunter, Charlotte, and Kymana; nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ethel Mozena; granddaughter, Krysta Mozena; parents-in-law, Ralph and Virginia Newman; brothers-in-law, Ronald Newman and Kenny Laabs; and sisters-in-law, Beverly Laabs and Jeanne Newman.
Dean's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Kimball.
