Richard Barthelemy Obituary

Richard "Dick" Barthelemy, age 91, of Annandale, died Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at his home under hospice care.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Fr. John Meyer as Celebrant. Private family burial will follow at St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 12th at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. The service will be live-streamed on the funeral home website. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to CTEN Missionaries, PO Box 291307, Kerrville, TX 78029-1307.

Richard V Barthelemy was born December 28, 1929 in Brockway Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Joseph and Wilhelmina (Huschle) Smoley. As a young child, Dick was adopted by William and Mayme (Schroeder) Barthelemy. Dick attended school in Sauk Rapids, graduating in 1948. He honorably served his country from 1948-1950 in the United States Marines. Upon his discharge, he furthered his education at St. Cloud State University. On June 16, 1951 he was united in marriage to Janet Kloek in Foreston, Minnesota. They made their home in Edina, where their four children were raised. Janet preceded Dick in death in 1992. On October 9, 1993 Dick was united in marriage to Sandra Lundquist in Richfield, Minnesota. Dick traveled the country as an advertising salesman for about 20 years. He then began his 19-year career as a sales manager for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. Dick was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Annandale, as well as the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golfing at Southbrook Golf Course. He also liked to go fishing and hunting.

Dick is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sandy of Annandale; children, RaeAnn (Bill) Brown of Buffalo, Janelle (Bob) Tyson of Minnetrista, William (Elizabeth) of Kerrville, TX, and Teresa (Steve) Netkow of Mounds View; stepchildren, Michelle Motzko of St. Louis Park, Kathy Carlson of Minnetonka, Andrew Boyce of Kansas City, MO, and Kari (Andrew) Scott of Portland, OR; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Lortz of Sartell; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet Barthelemy; grandson, Richard Barthelemy; stepson-in-law, Rick Carlson; and nine siblings.

Chris Letourneau, Andrew Scott, Matt Tyson, Ryan Cox, Dave Grussing, and Sean Malecha will serve as pallbearers.
