Emily C. Rachel, age 76, of Maple Lake, died Friday, March 26, 2021 at the Buffalo Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Fr. John Meyer as Celebrant. Committal service will follow at St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery columbarium. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, both at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. The service will be live-streamed on the funeral home website.
Emily Carol Rachel was born November 28, 1944 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Henry and Amelia (Latour) Mavencamp. Emily grew up in Maple Lake and graduated from Maple Lake High School in 1962. On January 12, 1963 she was united in marriage to Kenneth James Rachel. They made their home in Maple Lake where they raised their three children. Emily worked at General Mills for 18 years, before moving on to providing bookkeeping services to smaller family firms. Emily was a lifetime member of St. Timothy Catholic Church and a member of the Maple Lake American Legion Auxiliary, having served as President. Emily enjoyed playing bingo, completing puzzles, trying her luck at the casino, reading, hunting, fishing, and traveling. Nothing brought Emily greater joy than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Emily is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ken of Maple Lake; children, Rebecca (Thomas) Couette of Maple Lake, Donald (Julie) Rachel of Maple Lake, and Joanne Rachel of Bloomington; grandchildren, Alexander Couette, Courtney Couette, Andrea (Brady) Smith, Chelsea (Luke) Fobbe, Derek (Courtney) Rachel, Shelby (Jordan) Tanner, Linsey Rachel, Heather (Derek) Northenscold, James Nelson, Terra Rhoades, and Taytum Rhoades; great-grandchildren, Nora, Betsy, and Jack Smith, Roy Fobbe, Dawson Rachel, and Halle Northenscold; siblings, Henry "Pete" (Charlene) Mavencamp of Monticello, John "Jack" Mavencamp of Aurora, OR, Barbara Koshiol of Maple Lake, and Kathleen (Tom) Mooney of Maple Lake; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Amelia Mavencamp; brother, William Mavencamp; and sisters, Shirley Sherrard, Mary Elliot, and Genevieve Aritt.
James Nelson, Alexander Couette and Derek Rachel will serve as urn bearers. Krista Elsenpeter and Sarah Goelz will provide music for the service.
