Arleta L. Cross, age 94, of Sauk Centre, formerly of New Hope and Annandale, died Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at the Sauk Centre Care Center.
Private family graveside services will be held in 2021 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Annandale.
Arleta LeRea Cross was born December 15, 1925 in Yale, Iowa to Frank and Lottie (Long) Barcus. Arleta grew up in Yale where she graduated from Yale High School. On August 23, 1943, Arleta was united in marriage to John E. Cross Jr. in San Diego, CA. They made their home in New Hope, as Arleta worked for General Mills. She remained a loyal employee for 29 1/2 years, retiring in 1983. Upon her retirement, Arleta and John moved to a home on Lake Marie, near South Haven. After 10 years of living by the lake, they moved into Annandale. After John's death in 2003, Arleta relocated to Sauk Centre to be closer to family. She was a member of Sauk Centre United Methodist Church. In her spare time, Arleta enjoyed cooking for her family. Pets always held a special place in her heart.
Arleta is survived by her son, Richard Cross of Sauk Centre; grandson, Richard (Sara) Cross II of Hoka; great-granddaughters, Kelsey and Sydney; niece, Teresa Wheeler; great-nephew, Jeffery (Lisa) Wheeler; and great-niece, Amy (Jonathon) Hak; and great-great-nephew, Jack Wheeler. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lottie; husband, John; daughter-in-law, Linda Cross; and brother and sister-in-law, Billy Dean and Doris Barcus.
